Well-Made product May 2, 2007 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a very durable bag that has lived up to--and in some cases, exceeded, my expectations.
First off, it's very roomy. I can easily fit 2 of my 2 1/2" binders plus a textbook in the main compartment of the bag and still have the four pockets to stick stuff in. (Two in the front and one on each side) The front pockets are also bigger than they appear in the picture. I can easily fit my 6" x 9" writing notebook in one of the pockets without fear of it falling out. Also, it is difficult to see in the picture, but the side pockets have metal snaps on them which are actually pretty useful.
The canvas material the bag is made of is a heavyweight canvas, which means this bag will stand up to most anything you can throw at it without developing any holes in the fabric.
The weird brownish-color bag displayed in the picture is not at all the color of the bag. It is more of a Foresty-olive green. (Which makes sense considering it was originally a military essential)
Some people have mentioned that it would be nice if the bag were waterproofed. While this is true, it is not waterproofed, you can easily fix that by buying a spray-can of camp-dry, or other similar waterproofing spray.
In fact, the only thing that disappoints me about the bag, and I knew about it BEFORE I bought it, is that it does not have a padded shoulder strap. However, I have found this also easily fixable--I just purchased a seat-belt strap pad and put it on the bag. Voila! Instant padded strap.
All in all, a good, long-lasting bag for the (Twenty-something dollar) price. It's definitely a better choice than cheap book bags that fall apart after two or three months of normal use.
(As an added bonus, the large front flap is perfect for embroidery--making this an easily customizable bag as well.)
a superlative product.. July 26, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
First of all, I'd like to agree with all the other reviewers who mentioned that the color of the bag in the photographs is horribly inaccurate. What appears brown in the images is actually a very nice dark gray-olive in person. That was a nice surprise, because the brown color was the only thing I wasn't crazy about. Now that my green, not brown, bag has arrived, I have nothing but good things to say about it. It's great-looking, for one. (I got the "Lord And Saviour" graphic; it looks very cool, but in a subtle, non-tacky/flashy way, and I really like that.) The size is perfect... big enough to carry a LOT of things around, but not so oversized that it's awkward to wear. The construction seems very durable, with all the seams and strap hardware well-secured... I'm expecting this bag to last me for a very long time. I also like the nice wide strap... makes it very comfortable on my shoulder even when the bag is very full. The compartments are laid out well, so everything doesn't become a disorganized mess in there. On the whole, it's exactly what I was hoping to find when I started looking for a new messenger bag. And I have no complaints whatsoever with the shipping/customer service, either... it was shipped promptly and arrived when expected and in good order.
Love the bag August 21, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I was looking for a bag that would hold all my stuff I carry around. This bag does the trick without even thinking about ripping. It is reinforced and sturdy. It is definitely roomy. I am constantly carrying files back and forth in my front seat.
I agree with the last reviewer about the strap and I have no problem with it. It is very sturdy and I love it.
Great Bag February 13, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I read some of the reviews before i bought this bag, and i have to disagree with some of them. I read the one about the shoulder strap length and I have to disagree with that. I think that is is just right. I am 6'3" and i think that it fits well. It is not down around my butt, but right in the middle of my lower back where i think it should be. The texture is great its holds a lot of stuff. I can't wait to but it though all the test of my busy life.
Messenger bag rocks out February 17, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I searched for a while to find the "right" messenger bag, and this bag was it. It has a wonderful retro thing going on: I love the olive green coloring as well as the eagle print that I chose. But more then that - I use it for general everyday use back and forth to work as well as errands on the weekend. Bottled water, a book, wallet, coffee mug, whatever - this bag can do it all, including my laptop if I chose too. It has one big interior section, and two cargo pockets. The bag is durable, and has been rained on several times already. The strap is easy to adjust, and sturdy just like the bag. I recommend this messenger for students, for someone who wants a general everyday bag for back and forth to work.
